Baby Bank Norfolk provides essential items packs for babies up to 18 months, who are in need and in Norfolk. We're entirely volunteer-run, and we work mainly on donations from our generous supporters across the county. We provide clothes, nappies and toiletries, Moses baskets, bedding, and toy and book bundles. We also offer maternity clothes, and toiletries for mums and mums-to-be. Perople are referred to Baby Bank Norfolk from a wide variety of professionals, including GPs, midwives, social workers, housing associations, children's centres and many others. There are also a huge number of reasons for referrals - sometimes people are struggling with poverty, or are going through relationship breakdowns and are without things they need, or are fleeing domestic violence situations, or are refugees. We have low overheads, but we need to pay for rent and insurance; we also buy items new where they're needed, such as mattresses and bottle teats. We're extremely grateful for all the donations and financial support we receive, which goes straight to where it is needed.

Both of the Gulf Wars impacted heavily on the Kurdistan region of Northern Iraq having a lasting & devastating effect on its people, society & infrastructure. This is very evident in Kurdistan's health care system which is conspicuously worse than southern Iraq. Vast numbers of doctors were amongst the many thousands of people who had to flee the Saddam regime & this left a huge void in the number of suitably qualified & experienced surgeons. Prof Deiary Kader was one of these people. He was eventually able to return to his homeland in 2010 & he realised that he and his colleagues could help fill the void with regard to Orthopaedic services. Hence, NGMV was born. Our volunteers give their time freely to visit Iraqi Kurdistan. They deliver orthopaedic care to local people who have no other means of access to this type of healthcare which is given free of charge and without discrimination. Since 2010 more than 80 members have made the bi-annual trips. We have treated over 2000 patients in clinic & performed more than 300 surgical operations of the hip and knee. Unlike the big international charities, NGMV has no management overheads so all donations go directly into funding travel & equipment for our trips. We aim to continue our bi-annual visits in order to provide timely & specialist care to the people of the area but we need your help to do this. Please give generously so we can give or time & expertise to a worthy cause.
