The James Macready-Bryan Foundation was set up in February 2007 to provide financial support for care and rehabilitation and a public voice for young sufferers of acquired brain injury (ABI) and their families. The Foundation aims to improve the shortfalls in the medical, financial, political and social services systems, in which young lives are saved but then not adequately supported. Our fundraising provides vital support for additional services in care facilities, for the provision of better and more appropriate home care and, most importantly, for the development of new, age-appropriate residential options. The Foundation’s advocacy role helps to raise public awareness of the needs of young ABI sufferers. We continue to lobby state and federal governments to make the NDIS a reality, so that grieving families do not have to fight for every dollar to provide their children with the care and therapies they so desperately need.

join Your Voice with One Voice and Together we can be the Difference.       17,850 children under 12 live on the streets every night in Australia.   These kids have to sleep rough or seek alternate shelter, others are referred to emergency accommodation, with the worst facilities also housing drug addicts, convicted criminals and the severely mentally ill.   Family breakdown and domestic violence are two of the main reasons young Australians feel they must escape their existing circumstances, even though the alternative is risky and uncertain. Homeless youth are highly likely to become homeless adults, if they survive that long. You can help change this.                 Individuals and businesses can help by donating goods or services. Every dollar we save helps a young Australian get back on track. Our charity starts in Our Backyard.   Through your generous financial support you can help young Australians achieve their dreams, some kids just dont get a chance like other kids do.   Purchase our Australian Spring Water to help us raise funds and achieve our vision.   Click   If you would like to join Your Voice with One Voice please

Cairns Turtle Rehabilitation Centre (AU, 78407472803) Browse events

In 2000 Paul Barnes and Jennie Gilbert established the Cairns Turtle Rehabilitation Centre in Cairns, a non-profit organisation.   While they were working at The Undersea World Aquarium, a turtle was brought in with ‘floaters syndrome’ and this was the start of the CTRC. More and more turtles were brought into the aquarium to be rehabilitated by the marine parks rangers and when the aquarium shut down in 2001 the Cairns Turtle Rehabilitation Centre was moved to Tingara Street, in Cairns. Over the years the centre has successfully rehabilitated and released countless turtles.   Currently there are 20 volunteers working at the centre. The CTRC operational costs are met by donations from local businesses and the general public. These donations go directly towards the maintenance and feeding of the sick and injured turtles. Each day the turtles are fed, the tanks are cleaned and medication administered when required. The success rate for the rehabilitation of the turtles has gone from 30% to 85% and is now one of the highest success rates in Australia.   The new project is an extension of the Cairns rehab centre on Fitzroy Island. The owner of Fitzroy Island resort - Doug Gamble has kindly donated us a piece of land in order to extend the rehabilitation centre.    It used to be an aquaculture prawn farm so the area is semi-prepared to hold tanks however the piping for the water to be pumped in and out of the site has taken a long time to find and repair.   Our hope is to be able to fit another 20 Turtles out on the Island whilst keeping the 14 tanks running in Cairns. There is still a large amount of work that needs to be done on Fitzroy before the site will be ready for any more turtles.
