Completely free and put on with the support of Community Agencies and local Government bodies, the events provide visitors with access to everything, from free clothing and haircuts, to an international postal service and back to work solutions. More than all the ‘free stuff’ Rough Threads provide visitors with a forum for people to express their own personality and to find support from locals within their community. The events are positive for both visitor and volunteer, and encourage social interaction which breaks down feelings of isolation and creates what we like to call, social connectedness.
