As joint official charities for the 2013 Virgin London Marathon, YouthNet and Age UK have teamed up with a mission in mind – ending isolation and loneliness for those in later life. Over 1 million older people in the UK feel lonely, out of touch and cut off from society. How would you cope without digital technology? No email, no skype, no texts. Imagine if you were cut off. Lonely. Depressed. Imagine if you couldn’t connect. We believe we’ve got the answer. Age UK and YouthNet are coming together to launch a ground-breaking cross-generational project where young volunteers are teamed up with older people to train them in digital media.
