Time for Kids is for kids who need a break. We match children and young people with caring volunteers for regular part time care - usually for one day or weekend a month, or for blocks of time during the school holidays. The children and young people we work with are often dealing with multiple complex challenges such as poverty, parental illness or a lack of access to the sorts of opportunities most of us take for granted. Since Time for Kids began in 1960, our volunteers have changed the lives of more than 4700 children and young people in South Australia. Our philosophy is simple: sharing time changes lives. We believe that every child deserves to know they are valued and that their future can be bright. Some kids just need a break to help them on their way.
"They bring the hospice to our home" When a child has a serious condition and may not live into adulthood, families face an extremely difficult time. One of the difficulties is when the child has to leave the comfort, security and proximity of the family home for treatment or respite at a hospital or hospice. So, chYps offers a different approach to palliative and end of life care. Instead of the child coming to the hospice, the hospice comes to them. This allows the child and Mum, Dad, brothers and sisters to stay together. chYps offers a seamless service of care for children and young people, age 0 - 19 years.
