It has been a tough day, too much to do. On top of business demands, there is the school drop off, activities, household chores, bills to pay, managing work and the never-ending day to day stresses. Then imagine that none of that matters. One of the youngest members of your family is facing a battle just to survive. Everything you once complained about seems trivial, and those day to day worries are a welcome distraction. We have come together to help raise much needed funds for Luca's future. Please take a moment to read and share Luca's story and kindly donate to such a worthy cause. This is Luca's story: Luca was a typical 6 year old boy. He loved playing with his friends and lived each day to the fullest. Early April 2013 Luca started to complain about a sore right knee and presented with a slight limp. We took him to our local doctors for a check up. The GP put it down to "growing pains" and it was normal for a boy of his age. After a week or two we noticed that the limp became more pronounced and he was having trouble running. So we took him to the Royal Children's Hospital for further examination. Life has not been the same ever since. Luca was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer, on the 29th of April 2013. This is a rare form of cancer for a child of his age. Luca's journey to recovery would require extensive chemo to kill and reduce the tumours and ultimately some type of surgery to remove the tumours. Our world was rocked once again when we were eventually told that Luca would require amputation in order to save our little boys life. Luca lost his right leg just above the knee on the 1st of August 2013. We are confident that his attitude and love of life will ensure that he will walk again. Luca is a fighter, strong and brave. His courage has given all who meet him hope.
