Started in 1987 by a group of parents of blind and partially sighted children who came together to discuss their individual problems and found that they could help each other with the day to day problems of looking after a visually impaired child. Since this time, VICTA has developed into a national charity and now supports blind and partially sighted children and young people across the UK. Every year a large number of people raise money for us by running in the London Marathon. This has enabled us to: Provide full support and guidance to parents, Make grants for appropriate equipment, Make grants for special projects, Support other charities who work in our field. VICTA also organise meetings, sporting and leisure activities throughout the year so parents and visually impaired children and young people have the opportunity to meet and exchange views.
