The Birmingham Boys and Girls Union was set up in 1906, making it one of Birmingham’s oldest children’s charities. Its centre, Woodlands Adventure and Outdoor Learning, is open to all children, but also offers disabled children, and children from disadvantaged backgrounds, the chance to experience what it has to offer where many would usually go without. The facilities and training of staff at Woodlands Adventure mean that they can cater for all. Many children with physical disabilities or additional needs are able to enjoy activities they would often be turned away from causing them to miss out on valuable learning, life experience and, importantly, fun.
It recieves funds from donors interested in supporting designated individuals, projects or organisations working largely overseas in some form of Christian work. It ensures that all possible Gift Aid Tax is reclaimed and the funds are regularly transferred into the accounts of the designated recipients.
- We are a Christian Charity, based and founded in February 2007 at Cornerstone Community Church in Flitwick. - Our aim is to help change the lives of HIV/AIDS orphans in ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia. These orphans are in great need and we would love to enable them to change their future and have an impact on the world around them. - HandinHand helps 150 children currently.
It supports disabled people to lead an intergrated and active life by organising social activities and holidays. It campaigns for disabled rights and promotes disability awareness through performing arts. It aims to develop it's members choice through experience and promote their independence.
Neema Crafts Centre, Tanzania employs over 100 disabled people, providing much needed employemnt and training. It is also changing the negative attitudes to the disabled that are so common. Neema Crafts also provides free physiotherapy for disabled children. This project now needs regular funding.
T.M.A.T. exists to bring relief of poverty and the promotion of the Christian Gospel through providing homes for HIV/AIDS orphans within a secure area. It also provides educational training and resources for Pre-schools in rural South Africa.
WABP helps people throughout North Somerset come to terms with the devastating effects of losing their sight. Practical solutions to daily living enable blind people to retain their independence. Social clubs and other opportunities improve their quality of life. Over 100 volunteers help 9 paid staff to provide help to 1650 members.
