(UK, 289546) Browse eventsThank you for visiting our profile page on MyDonate. Orfund is a small charity based in Poole, Dorset which helps children and young people in Dedza in southern Malawi who have no parents - or only one parent or relative who is unable to care for them. We do this by raising money which we send to our partners who look after, or educate children and young people with the money we raise on their behalf. Orfund supports up to 30 children who live at, or receive support from, the Molima Family Home. We are also supporting two former residents who are apprentices in mechanics in the capital, Lilongwe, about 50 miles away. We also support local schools in Dedza because it's important that children acquire the knowledge and skills they need to be able to live independently as adults. Malawi is now the 3rd poorest country in the world. At the moment we can send just over £25 per month for each child at Molima. There is however so much more that we could do to improve the health, well-being and life opportunities of the children. Although we have some money set aside for improvements and new developments we need more regular and one-off donations to be able to support these year on year. Orfund may be a small charity but we believe we can achieve a great deal with your help. Please donate to support our work Charity No: 289546 Find out more Website http://www.orfund.org

Both schools have ambitious development plans to which the PSA wouldlike to contribute. In the infant school, our aim is to extend the canopies outside thereception classes (which were co-funded by the PSA) along both the year one and yeartwo classes. For the junior school, the goal is to refurbish the round hall. The hall sits atthe heart of the school and is a wonderfully unique feature that desperately needsupdating. Money raised by the PSA has an incredibly positive impact on our children’s schoolexperience. From subsidising a wide range of clubs for both schools to giving every Year4 child the chance to learn an instrument; from funding a Christmas panto for the infantchildren to providing a monthly library budget for junior school children to choose newbooks; and from purchasing tablets and microscopes to helping fund major projects suchas the wildlife garden, the Year 1 playground and the quiet area in the junior schoolplayground, the impact of everyone’s fundraising efforts is clearly evident throughout bothschools. So, if you'd like to contribute, we've made it really easy for you, or another family member, to make a donation to the schools. And, because we're registered for GiftAid we can potentially add a further 25% to your donation!! Thank you for your support in helping us make a real difference to our children. Charity No: 1012712
