Schools have their own budgets —but invariably they need more than the budget allows. That’s where the Atherton State Primary P&C association becomes a really valuable partner. The P&Cs runs the Hunger Hut (tuckshop), uniform shop and Breakfast Club, as well as facilitating raffles, Mothers Day and Christmas stalls and supporting the school with events such as Sports Days and Book Week Fundraising is a powerful way in which you can help your P&C support the school get much-wanted additional resources. Your P&C also provides feedback and advice on school policies and activities, assist in providing resources to enhance student outcomes and are involved in a variety of school activities and school functions.
The Earlswood Scout Group is an essential and active part of the local community. We’re proud of the contribution we have made to the growth, development and spiritual guidanceof countless young people in the area through the opportunities that Scoutingprovides. Here at 2nd Reigate we believe in fun, everyday adventure and life skills. We work hard and play harder. We love to be active and regularly partake in exciting adventures such as climbing, archery, pioneering and camping. We challenge young people and adults to stretch themselves, discover new talents and reach their potential.2nd Reigate Scout Group plays an important part of Earlswood life. We are proud of our little corner of the world and we aim to have a positive and practical impact on our local community. We need to raise £220,000 to be able to rebuild the hall in the current location. This will retain most of the current building, renovate it and build a 2nd story to it to increase the size by about 40%, improve the fabric of the building and allow for 2 groups to operate at the same time.We expect to break ground around Q4 2017 and we would like to have the funds available before we start. About SOFT UK SOFT UK provides information and support at all stages following a prenatal diagnosis of Trisomy 13 or Trisomy 18 - whether a family decides to terminate the pregnancy early or allow it to continue. SOFT supports those caring for a baby or child with these conditions (often living with multiple and profound disabilites), and families if a bereavement occurs. As a membership organisation, families can share their experiences through the SOFT UK website, members' magazine and annual members' events. SOFT offers support to all members of the family, including siblings of the affected child, for as long as required. At the heart of SOFT UK is the belief that no family should have to cope alone and that offering an opportunity to share experiences can reduce feelings of isolation commonly felt by members of families affected by these rare conditions. We are very proud of Weston School, our students and the programmes that we offer. Being a full primary we enjoy a real family atmosphere, and utilise the skills of our senior students to support our junior students as and when we can. We take pride in working closely with whanau and our local community, to support our learners. We offer a wide variety of programmes - from academic, sporting and cultural opportunities - in both during and after school programmes. Our children take up these opportunities with much enthusiasm and as a result we have a presence in a wide range of local cultural and sporting competitions. We are an Enviroschool and are very proud of the rapid developments that are happening with this. As well as our extensive garden and planting programmes, we have our own recycling station that works alongside our local Waitaki Resource Recovery Centre. We also have a very fruitful garden, orchard, and tunnel house which we use to grow native seedlings and vegetables. Our natives have been used to develop riparian areas on farms in our community. We are an innovative and creative community of learners!
