2 million Australians, half of whom are children need food relief every year. Yet at the same time 1 in 3 kilos of food produced in this country goes to waste. This is where Foodbank NSW helps bridge the gap. Foodbank NSW is the largest food relief agency in the state. We supply 95% of food relief in the state to both metropolitan and regional NSW. Foodbank NSW's rescues 5 million kilos of food destined to be dumped and helps turn it into 6.6 million meals a year for the elderly, children, low-income families and many, many more struggling Australians. The food we rescue goes out to over 560 charities including the Salvation Army, Mission Australia and St Vincent De Pauls. THE BIG BREAKFAST- You can help raise 100,000 healthy breakfasts this October by fundraising for the Big Breakfast. Just go across to Support, click Create a Supporters Page and start fundraising.
The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. We provide, on call, a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service around the UK and Ireland, and a seasonal lifeguard service. With our lifeboats, safety advice and flood rescue, we are committed to preventing tragedies and tackling the international drowning epidemic. Our work is based on and driven by our values. Our volunteers and staff strive for excellence and are ...Selfless: willing to put the requirements of others before our own and the needs of the team before the individual, able to see the bigger picture and act in the best interests of the RNLI, and to be inclusive and respectful of others. Prepared to share our expertise with organisations that share our aims. Dependable: always available, committed to doing our part in saving lives with professionalism and expertise, continuously developing and improving. Working in and for the community and delivering on our promises. Trustworthy: responsible, accountable and efficient in the use of the donations entrusted to us by our supporters, managing our affairs with transparency, integrity and impartiality. Courageous: prepared to achieve our aims in changing and challenging environments. We are innovative, adaptable and determined in our mission to save more lives at sea. The RNLI in Ireland has 44 lifeboat stations operating 57 lifeboats that provide a ring of safety around the Irish coastline. This fleet enables the lifeboat service to reach at least 90% of all casualties that are within 10 nautical miles of lifeboat stations within 30 minutes of launch, in all weathers. Last year Irish Lifeboats launched 1087 times and rescued 1278 people.
