(UK, 1192076) Browse eventsRemember Rufus has been set up in memory of our beautiful firstborn son, Rufus Harry Jude Key, who was stillborn on 11th October 2020 due to a silent placenta abruption at 39 weeks gestation. Following Rufus' birth, we were able to spend 6 unforgettable days with our son thanks to having access to a Cuddle Cot. During this time we were able to do many of the 'firsts' we had dreamt of with our boy including bath time, his first walk, meeting his grandparents and story. The memories we created are etched in our minds and have helped us immeasurably in our grief process. Our aim is to make sure every parent who faces the devastating reality of losing a child has access to this fantastic equipment which allows families to take time making memories with their precious baby(ies) in a private setting within the hospital, hospice or at even at home. Those extra hours and days can mean wider family members are also able to say goodbye. Without a cuddle cot, a bereaved family will typically only have 10-12 hours with their little one before they are taken away. Many studies have shown that increasing the amount of time parents have with their child(ren) will assist them with processing the mental and emotional difficulties of losing a child. No amount of time will ever be enough, but allowing parents the flexibility and control of managing their final goodbyes in the way that feels best for them is something that all families deserve.

(AU, 55338004696) Browse eventsOUR MISSION: The Sydney Breast Cancer Foundation believes that all breast cancer patients deserve access to the best possible medical treatment and support, and that increasing awareness is vital to beating the disease. Our mission is to improve survival rates and the quality of life of breast cancer patients and their families by raising funds on behalf of the Sydney Breast Cancer Institute for patient support, treatment and research and for increased awareness. WHY WE ARE DIFFERENT: Based at Royal Prince Alfred, Concord and Strathfield Hospitals, the difference between us and most other breast cancer charities is that we are all about DIRECT PATIENT CARE AND TREATMENT, so the funds we raise go DIRECTLY to support breast cancer patients who are going through the illness.
(UK, 1098735) Browse eventsThe Burpham Primary School Parents Support Group ("the PSG") is a Parent Teacher Association and has been registered as a charity since July 2003 (Registered Charity No. 1098735). All parents/guardians, teaching and non-teaching staff, and governors at the school are automatically included in the membership of the PSG, hence another reason behind the name - Parents, Staff and Governors. What is our purpose and how are we organised? Our purpose is, officially, "to enhance the education of the pupils at Burpham Primary School in particular by, developing effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school; and engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment which support the school and advance the education of the pupils" - which is a long-winded way of saying we aim to raise money for the school to buy equipment and support other activities whilst ensuring that everyone has plenty of fun along the way! As a charity, the PSG has registered trustees who are responsible for the overall workings of the group. The trustees are usually the Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary plus the Headteacher. Together with the trustees, the publicity officer and class representatives form the wider committee. The Annual General Meeting is held in September. Apart from the usual formalities we use this time to elect the committee for the coming year. The committee meets approximately once a term to hear the treasurers report, to make decisions on what the funds raised are spent on, to ensure compliance with necessary regulations and to oversee the fundraising timetable. Its also an opportunity to meet other parents and exchange views on whats happening in school and have a say in where the money is spent. Each fund-raising, social or support event is often organised by a sub-group of people. We welcome ideas from all parents for both fundraising and social events. We especially welcome volunteers to organise these events and make them work for us. The PSG has its own bank account, separate from School, which finances approved projects for the school and holds profits. A newsletter is sent out regularly to all parents updating everyone on events and monies raised. Fundraising and Fun During the year we hold a variety of events. Examples of past fundraising activities include; Quiz night, Disco, Christmas Fair, Jumble sale , Easter Cake Sale, Auction of Promises, Pamper Night, Summer Fair, etc. All these events require volunteers to help make them a success and we are always looking for new ideas from parents and offers of help for those willing to organise a particular event. Support Activities The PSG also get involved in school to help the teachers with events (and sometimes raise a bit more money in the process). Many parents support the school in other ways. We have a small army of volunteer parents who help in the classroom with reading, cooking, helping with the swimming run, library and other activities.
