Childhood is a precious, fragile experience. Children exposed to the streets - especially those from refugee, displaced or migrant backgrounds -  face specific challenges and vulnerabilities, and are often forced to make adult decisions far too early. . Cities for Children (CfC) seeks to protect what we call the “right to a childhood” for children in urban poverty, especially those on the move and at risk. We do this by knitting together three programmatic strands:•       The Right to Read (literacy)•       The Right to Play (recreation)•       The Right to Feel Safe (psychosocial support)We work through strong partnerships with under-resourced organisations providing education or protection services to street-connected children. Brain Cancer kills more people under the age of 40 than any other cancer and more children in Australia than ANY other disease. Approximately 1,600 Australians are diagnosed each year and, of them, it's estimated 1300 will die from the disease. Currently there is no cure. Survival rates haven't changed in 30 years and it is severely underfunded. Carrie's Beanies 4 Brain Cancer Foundation aims to raise funds for vital brain cancer research.
