(UK, 297937) The Shepherd’s Purse is our bursary fund and used solely to support residents who are funded by the local authority. The Home is run on a ‘not for profit’ basis with a strong ethos of caring for any elderly person in need residential nursing care. We strongly believe that the elderly deserve the best care we can provide and that they should be treated with dignity and respect at the end of their lives. A fee is set each year by the Board which will allow us to break even financially whilst providing good quality, attentive care in a homely setting. Local Authority funding is now unrealistically low and falls well below this ‘break even’ fee. Without the support of the bursary many residents would not be able to live at Green Pastures. We don’t want to turn anyone away because of funding. The Shepherd’s Purse Fund helps us to keep our doors open to everyone. This year we need to raise £30,000 and we anticipate the need increasing now year by year. All the money we receive via Virgin Money Giving will go into the Shepherd’s Purse fund and be used to support needy residents.

YTD Raised: £0.00Planning Democracy is campaigning for equality and fairness in the planning system in Scotland. We do this because planning affects our environment massively and many people find it incredibly difficult to get their voice heard when they are trying to protect Scotland from unwanted and detrimental development. So Planning Democracy challenges Government policy, law and a culture that often prioritises the needs of developers and big business over communities and the environment. We exist because people are often not listened to when important decisions get made about what is built in their local area. To give people a stronger voice in the planning system we are campaigning for Equal Rights of Appeal. This is a change in the law to put communities on a level playing field and allow them to appeal planning decisions, which currently only developers can do. This would fix a blatant injustice in the planning system which gives developers more power than the communities they affect. You can find out more about the campaign at www.planningdemocracy.org.uk.
