YTD Raised: £0.00

Our project, undertaken by the charity Uganda Aid Person to Person under the direction of Marlyn Sommers and with the help of generous sponsors, is to build a school with several classrooms at Bunono in the Kabale area, in the south west of Uganda. Kabale is a rural area with the school at the centre of three parishes which serves 6050 people. The children of the area recognise the importance of education, with some brought from as far away as 15 kilometres, some on bicycles and others who walk the long distance to attend class. About half the children are orphans and school fees are a problem. When school is built, children will come from beyond this area. The school offers basic primary education based on the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Sports. The children are also taught health education through music, dance and drama, e.g. prevention of HIV infections. The existing crumbling mud hut classrooms are being replaced with structurally solid buildings using local labour. The Uganda Aid Person to Person charity also intends to create an adequate income to sustain and promote quality education to make the Bunono Primary School a model school. More competent and qualified teachers will generate better performance from pupils and increase enrolment.

We strive to instill a sense of HOPE for our clients. So much these days is uncertain and when someone is aging the uncertainty becomes magnified. We do everything in our power to make sure no senior is left behind. A critical part of our services extends beyond the nutritious hot meal. When a senior is alone and isolated in their home, we're there to deliver a hot meal, a warm smile, and a wellness check - every day showing them people still care. We are fortunate in Spokane County's to have such a rich web of senior resources, but many people do not know where to start or have the ability to find other critical services. When we visit with our participants, we find out if they have different needs such as basic food, transportation to medical appointments, help with chores, or in-home care. Together, as a community, we need your support to show our most vulnerable neighbors we still cherish their presence in our lives. We would never want those we love to feel alone and hungry, and we want each of our participants to feel that same warmth from our community of AMAZING volunteers. With your help, we can continue to reach out to this often-forgotten group as life in all its business continues to speed by. We believe in the goodness of people. Together WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Thank you for joining our circle of care.
