April Lodge Guinea Pig Rescue was established in 2004 and we have cared for over 1500 unwanted guinea pigs in our ten year history. We’re proud to say that over 1350 of these went on to be adopted and around 50 went into foster care. We endeavour to find our guinea pigs kind, loving, permanent homes following a poor start in life. Charity Founder: Val Savage B.A.R., Guinea Pig Health Advisor

Welcome to the fundraising page of the Annunciation, Marble ArchOver the next 5 to 10 years, we will need to undergo a number of essential renovations so that the church can remain open and active. Our first stage of works and most urgent concern, is that our heating has stopped working. Not only have our church users endured several freezing winters, but the cold and damp is causing damage to the interior of our grade II listed church. Despite the staggering cost of installing a new boiler and heating system - around £125,0000 - we can no longer put off this essential building work. If you would like to sponsor a particular fundraising event (e.g. the young Snowdon hikers) please click on the link for ‘Sponsors’. If you would just like to make donation to the Annunciation then please click on ‘Donate Now’. All donation are much appreciated and gratefully received. Please donate generously so we can keep our church open, warm and ready to serve our local community. Who are we? We are a Church of England place of worship tucked away behind the hustle and bustle of Oxford Street. Visitors step in to encounter a dramatic ‘Edwardian Gothic’ interior with the feel of a major medieval church. The church was designed by Walter Tapper, has a Grade II Listed Building status, and was consecrated in 1914, at the start of WW1. On Sundays, our church is bursting with worshippers, and we run a successful Sunday School with over 100 children. During the week, we are an oasis of prayer and quiet refuge for local workers, residents, passer-bys and tourists. With strong connections to a local school and charities, including one that supports the deaf and deaf/blind, we play an important role in the local community. Supporting Deaf Gambians to access family, education and employment by training and paying salaries of Gambian Sign Language (GSL) Interpreters. Four interpreters isn't enough, so we're raising £26,000 to train more. This project combines financial support (travel and salaries) with practical support (providing interpreter training, laptops and video cameras), working with interpreters to develop strategies to grow, professionalise and sustain interpreting services. We’re raising additional funds to grow the number of interpreters. We aim to: • Support the GSL teachers to develop their GSL resources, curricula and assessment. • Select people with potential to become interpreters. • Provide them with four weeks GSL training. • Three weeks Introduction to Interpreting training. • Six weeks opportunity to shadow the existing interpreters. • Two weeks practical interpreter training and assessment. The project will then pay the salaries of the trainee interpreters for a specified period or until they gain employment, as well as provide previously mentioned necessary equipment. Please click the ‘Donate now’ button to see what your donation will provide. Any amount, big or small, helps. Thank you. The Gambia Deaf Children Support Project process our donations.
