Thank you so much for visiting our page!! Star Action is run on a foundation of loving care for a rapidly expanding ‘worldwide family’. We welcome individual involvement in our projects and encourage visitors to ‘come and see what we are doing’ and feel part of the Star Action family. We aim to personally oversee the way all donations are used so no money is wasted. Although it may seem to be a ‘drop in the ocean’ in the face of great tragedy – such as in Sri Lanka after the tsunami and in the aftermath of the civil war, it is heart warming to forge real heart-links with our families whose lives we have changed. Our children’s orphanage in South India now cares for 23 children who have become our loving family under the care of our fantastic ‘house parents’ Richard and Sasees. They are now pioneering our new Old People’s Home and some of the older children in the orphanage will be helping care for the elderly residents – an extended family indeed. In Ghana (West Africa) our project is community based and aims to help young teenagers train in a skill which will lead to a worthwhile job (instead of wandering the streets of the city). This whole project is being supervised by Fred and Hamida Bote-Kwame who wholeheartedly embrace our family vision. For details of our progress see - Asiakwa Appeal Update listed under Find out more Any of these areas of our work – Sri Lanka, India, West Africa – will benefit so much from your very kind support. THANK YOU, Jenny, Joan and Stuart Star Action Trustees PS – Please take a moment to visit our website.
Solutions Not Sides is an education programme that exists to provide humanising encounters, diverse narratives and critical-thinking tools in order to empower young people with the knowledge, empathy and skills to promote dialogue and conflict resolution, and to challenge prejudice in the UK. They work with young people age 15-19 in schools, university students through their summer programmes, and communities offering trainings and sessions for adults. Young Israeli and Palestinian peace activists are brought in as speakers to share their personal experience of living through conflict, enabling young people to see those affected as fellow human beings, helping them to understand and embrace the complexity of the problem, and empowering them towards seeking solutions.
