Community Meeting Point Harpenden (CMP) offers information, support, short courses and opportunities for real work experience to support people whose lives have been affected by mental illness. People are supported to regain skills, confidence, interests and hope for the future. Our range of services are designed to support people in their recovery and to help them to stay well. We focus on supporting our members to become more involved in community life and provide a range of practical activities and courses to help people get ready for employment or further training. We support members to have the same opportunities and choices as everyone else in the community and to make use of the same local facilities and choices. We also operate a charity shop adjacent to our activity hub. The money raised by the shop from donated goods will support the excellent work done by CMP. Zinc (formerly Theatre Resource) is an amazing organisation. Straddling the arts, education, health and social care sectors, and using visual, media and performing arts, we provide a wide range of opportunities for disabled people and other socially-excluded groups. Our work allows participants to become involved in creativity, acquire new skills, gain qualifications and secure employment and supported employment within the arts and creative industries. Employing 46 people, Zinc is one of the larger disabled-led arts organisations in the UK and the only one to own and operate its own arts education centre. As we approach our 21st birthday, we have embarked on a major capital development which will see our centre in Essex expand to become a fully accessible residential education facility. This development will allow the organisation to expand the scope and range of its services and establish a world class centre of excellence for the development of arts education activities with and for disabled people, socially-excluded groups and the local community. 95% of the money required for this development has already been raised but there is still a little way to go to reach the £6.2million fundraising target for this project. Thank you for your support.
