The Air Cadets is a youth organisation offering unique opportunities for young people aged 12-20 years. At 163 Squadron, we provide a friendly and welcoming environment for teenagers from all backgrounds and through the training and activities we offer, they learn self discipline and respect, teamwork and initiative and develop their social, communication and leadership skills. We offer a wide range of activities from flying and gliding to camps, adventurous training, map reading, sports, leadership courses and the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. We also offer opportunities for B-Tec qualifications. The young people from our local community that join 163 Squadron are young people who want to make the most of their lives and do something worthwhile with their time. We, as staff, want to be able to invest in these people and other potential young members from the local area, with quality training and experiences that will develop their skills and personal qualities to make them good citizens and provide them with a positive platform for their future.

Formerly Bexley Training Group and Thames Gateway training, Skills for Growth is a registered charity that provides a range of training programmes aimed at all ages. The majority of training delivered is however to young people in the form of Apprenticeship Programmes and the new Foundations Programmes. Skills for Growth also run a range of short term targeted initiatives that help prepare young people for the world of work. Our aim is to provide young people with the skills and knowledge needed to pursue a fulfilling and prosperous life. Many of these employers have stated that young people leaving the educational sector do not possess the correct skills and attributes needed for their business. Skills for Growth works to address this skills gap.
