From providing the public and those with the condition to a portal of information about Autism, to servinga platform for people affected by Autism to share their stories and views, to providing a strong voice for the concerns of the community – AsIAm.ie has it all! We sum up our mission going forward under 4 key words: AsIAm.ie sums up its aims under 4 key headings: Educate – We hope, through increasing and improving accessibility of information, to equip people with Autism and their families to understand the condition better. Additionally we hope to articulate and effectively communicate issues of concern to the AS community to those working with people with the condition and the general public. Helping to build a more informed and understanding society. Empower – We passionately believe in providing those in the AS community with the tools to reach their potential. We believe that for too long those with Autism have been told what their needs are and what to do about them. We aim to be a user-led initiative, developing projects and campaigns based on the issues brought forward by our users, additionally we hope that through providing a platform we can help those affected by Autism to speak up about their concerns and to raise attention of issues of concern in their own lives. Advocate – Acting as a hub for the AS community in Ireland we hope to be able to draw on common areas of concern raised by our users and to develop public awareness and policy campaigns around these issues. Community – We aim to provide a safe, pleasant space for the AS community to share experiences, concerns and ideas with others with similar experiences, breaking down the geographical and social isolation which has for so long plagued many people with Autism and their families. We are a not-for-profit, charitable organisation. AsIAm is registered with the Company Registration Office (Company Number: 553241) and has been granted charitable status by the Revenue Commissioners (CHY #21201).
(UK, 1197734) Browse eventsWe aim to arrange Support Groups, for people who’ve suffered from a stroke. Creating these groups will enable people to talk and share their experience, the younger sufferers (under 70) are sometimes forgotten - our aim is to give support for all age groups, especially younger people. The founder and trustee Helen Hick said, “Having experienced multiple strokes, I felt I needed someone to talk to, ask questions and find an understanding of how I was feeling, creating support groups will help share how sufferers are feeling, just talking will help alleviate stresses and anxiety.” After suffering from a stroke the chances of another one are quite high, unless you change your lifestyle. Support Groups will not only provide mental support but also suggestions and advice regarding checking your blood pressure and what you could change in your current way of living.

(UK, 1122363) Browse eventsHackney Migrant Centre is a volunteer-led charity that runs a weekly drop-in for asylum seekers, refugees and migrants. We offer free advice on immigration and housing and benefit problems. We also have a health advocate that can help with access to NHS services and GP registration. HMC was established in direct response to needs identified by local agencies and campaigning organisations such as Hackney Community Law Centre, Hackney Refugee and Migrant Support Group, and Hackney Refugee Forum. These were, particularly, asylum seekers’ lack of access to good immigration advice, and widespread housing and welfare problems including destitution, social isolation and unrecognised health problems. HMC aims to reduce poverty, mental distress and social isolation among recent migrants through the provision of high quality immigration and welfare advice and health advocacy. The service is open to any migrant, whatever their nationality, immigration status or present place of residence though almost all clients live in London. HMC also aims to encourage social interaction and mutual support by volunteers talking informally with visitors (clients), and by providing opportunities for interaction among the visitors themselves. We have a small hardship fund which enables us to make one-off payments to destitute visitors. All visitors receive a free lunch as well as support from our volunteers. Hackney Migrant Centre Aims 1. To provide advice and assistance to migrants on immigration, welfare or health issues 2. To offer a welcoming environment to migrants and help reduce social isolation 3. To publicise issues relating to migrants social and economic circumstances
