Heart Research Australia raises funds for first stage research into heart disease and associated medical conditions. As medical research is extremely expensive and time consuming, and funding scarce, the focus of our research program is in testing the ideas. Some current research includes personalized intervention for smokers, ways to prevent kidney injury following cardiac surgery, treatments of diabetic patients with heart disease and identifying triggers of heart attack. Research funded by Heart Research Australia is primarily conducted at Royal North Shore Hospital and the Kolling Institute, Sydney, however a number of research projects are a joint collaboration with researchers from other institutions within Australia and overseas.
