(IE, CHY12405) Browse eventsThe Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation provides direct funding, to families of children up to the age of 4 with brain damage who suffer severe intellectual and physical developmental delay, enabling them to purchase home respite care. We also provide end of life care. These are children who as a result of their condition require intensive home nursing care. The Foundation gives these families the Gift of time, time to do the things that we so often take for granted like shopping, taking their other children to the park, a night’s sleep etc. Jack and Jill needs to raise over €3 million per year to provide these services. Less than 19% of our budget comes from the Government so we rely on innovative fundraising campaigns to reach our target. Please help us to help our families by making a donation or by holding a fundraising event on our behalf.

(UK, 1145533) Browse eventsCikoko is a UK registered charity (number 1145533) set-up in 2010 to support the Mukambi Community School in Kafue National Park, Zambia. The charity has 4 trustees (Nick Truyens, Graham Smith, Hazel Nicholls and Janet Lauder) and we fund the teacher salaries and all admin fees for the charity personally. We ensure that every single penny raised and donated goes directly to enhancing the education of the children in the local community. We have been keen to increase the contribution that our charity makes and during 2017 we co-sponsored the addition of a well, pump and water storage facility so that the School and local community has clean and safe water. Safe because up till then the community had to fetch water from the Kafue River, famous for its huge Hippo and Croc populations! Additionally we installed solar panels and battery banks to light the classrooms and to enable the use of laptops and tablets. Now the teachers and other volunteers can run evening classes for the adult population, for whom literacy is only at 70%. The school currently has 80+ enthusiastic dedicated pupils and 5 equally committed permanent teachers. Unfortunately due to the success of the school they have outgrown their two permanent and two temporary classrooms. Our ambition has been to build a new school block with additional classrooms and office for the teachers. Thanks to the blistered feet and sore legs Nick encountered during the non-stop 100km Thames Path Walk and the generous donations of colleagues, friends and employers at Schroders we have managed to raise sufficient money to start the building works which began in May. We now hope, with your support, to be able to complete the building project this year
