YTD Raised: n/aThe University of Bristol Hodgkin Scholarship supports students from the developing world to access world class higher education, where they are not able to in their home country for political or social reasons (including race, gender and war). One candidate per year is funded (generally) to study at the University of Bristol and the scholarship is a joint initiative between the University and the Students' Union. Each year students of the University fund raise towards the scholarship. In recent years the work of the Trust has focussed on sub-Saharan Africa including Kenya, Uganda, and South Sudan. Candidates are accepted on the basis that they intend to use the qualification gained in a way that will further the development of their country. Recent scholars have gone on to work in fields including education, gender equality and agriculture development.
