Please help us to buy a minibus so we can go on Camp!11th/9th Cambridge Scouts is a busy group with a calendar packed all year round with fantastic activities for our children and young people to take part in and enjoy. Going away on camp is an essential part of scouting, and Summer Camp is the highlight of the year. We’re very lucky to have an expert group of talented and enthusiastic leaders. Our leaders have youth on their side, which is a great bonus. However, it does mean that hiring a safe mini bus is getting more and more difficult for us to do. We have just about managed this for 2017, but it won’t be possible next year.If we are going to be able to take the young people away on Summer Camp 2018 and in the future, we need to buy a bus by July 2018. Please help us to raise the money to buy a minibus for our troop – we’ll use it for camp, and lots of other things too. Donating here is easy, quick and gift-aid friendly - your donation will make a difference to all our young people.A huge THANK YOU from all the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, leaders, young leaders and parents at the 11th/9th Cambridge Scout Group.  About the 11th/9th Cambridge Scout GroupThe 11th/9th Cambridge Scout Group provide outstanding Scouting for over 100 young people aged 6-18 from Newnham and the surrounding areas. We can be young people’s first taste of adventure, loyal friendship, community awareness and self reliance, the basics of life long skills. We are an active and proud Scout Group, with access to resources extremely hard to obtain outside this organisation. The Appledore Book Festival (UK, 1171761) Browse events

YTD Raised: n/a

Appledore Book Festival is a charity founded in 2006 by Nick Arnold, author of Horrible Science, in a bid to raise money to save Appledore Library. His campaign brought our community together and saved the library, which is still at the heart of our village. Today, the Appledore Book Festival continues to thrive and has become one of the biggest cultural festivals in Devon, attracting world-class authors, speakers and artistes. Run almost exclusively by a team of volunteers, who do everything from stewarding the events to adorning the village with bunting, our Festival is a unique experience. Appledore is a beautiful, historic fishing village situated on the North Devon coast, approximately three miles from Bideford. The picturesque quayside is an attractive maze of quaint narrow streets lined with pretty, pastel-coloured fishermen’s cottages, a host of independent shops, plus delightful hotels and guest houses, making Appledore a popular holiday destination. Full of maritime history, and its own Maritime Museum, Appledore sits at the confluence of the Taw and Torridge rivers with lovely views across the water to the village of Instow. Visitors love taking the seasonal ferry over for a day trip, then back to Appledore before indulging in some fine local produce, including sensational seafood at one of the many delightful cafes, restaurants or village pubs.
