At Gates of Light, our mission is the relief and assistance of orphans in the Middle East in particular Egypt. The main aim of the charity is to raise standards in the care sector in Egypt by providing these children with accommodation, healthcare, education and most importantly a loving home.
We are a network of local churches working together on mission, so that everyone in our area knows the love of God and love of community. We also collaborate with schools, charities and businesses and local government, so that together we can make the greatest difference.
The name of the religion is Islam, which comes from an Arabic root word meaning “peace” and “submission.” Islam teaches that one can only find peace in one’s life by submitting to Almighty God (Allah) in heart, soul and deed. The same Arabic root word gives us “Salaam Alaykum,” (“Peace be with you”). Muslims believe that since Allah alone is the Creator, it is He alone that deserves our devout love and worship. Islam holds to a strict monotheism. Any worship and prayers directed at saints, prophets, other human beings or nature is considered idolatry - We provide social, cultural and faith-based needs to the Muslim community and New Muslims. - We provide social and cultural contacts for the students and the visitors from home and abroad. - We hold the daily prayers and the Friday Service for men, women and children. - We provide classes to the children and teenagers at the university campus. - We co-ordinate advice and support to the Local Police Force, the City Council, the Prison Services, the Local Hospitals and University of Kent - We encourage social inclusion by bringing the Muslim community in contact with the wider community. - We give advice and provide support to the bereaved families, to hold prayer and to arrange the burial. - We generate funds only from donations and charitable events and only use them for peaceful purposes.
AUTISM FORWARD CIO was formed in 2017 and is registered with the Charity Commission (registered number 1171704). Our aim is to enable autistic adults to break free of the barriers they face in the workplace and beyond to reach their full potential in life.We provide grants to individuals for specialist mentoring and resources for employers, colleagues, friends and families of autistic adults to encourage them to listen, talk and accept their different way of seeing the world, so that adults on the spectrum are included and valued in communities and workplaces At present, only 16% of autistic adults are in full time work. National Autistic Society research reveals that this figure has remained the same for the last decade. We want to change this. Mentoring also helps autistic adults deal with issues such as anxiety, relationships, housing and personal stability – help which is often not otherwise available and which is so important for inclusion in the community and workplace and leading a happy and fulfilling life. You can help transform the lives of autistic adults and make a neurodiverse workplace a reality by donating to AUTISM FORWARD so we can fund specialist employment related mentoring and raise awareness among employers. We are a registered charity with no paid employees and no fixed overheads, so all donations go directly to fund mentoring by independent autism specialists for adults on the autism spectrum who need appropriate support.
