Run within the school community, the program aims to: *Increase awareness of mental health and depression among young people . *Educate young people about the risk factors for depression and ways to minimize their impact . *Educate young people about how to provide assistance to other young people showing signs of depression . *Educate young people about appropriate help seeking pathways both within their school and externally. This has just happened, and I put it down to the boys having done the HeadSmart program." Parent I have been trying for years to get my son to meet and talk with someone. He was only willing to do it after he did the HeadSmart program, as he seemed to think that it was okay to talk with someone after he did (the program). Making a Difference HeadSmart is all about early intervention. By screening teens for early signs of possible mental health concerns, and educating them to help themselves and others, HeadSmart is changing the way we approach depression.
