What’s different about The Halimah Trust? We have no paid staff and all administration is carried out by volunteers. Any costs such as travel, website and resources are paid for separately by individuals involved in the charity so that no donations are used for anything other than the projects we are delivering and supporting. We guarantee that 100% of your donation goes to the project you’re donating towards. Join us today to help the poorest people in the world... because they have dreams too. Our Inspiration The Halimah Trust charity was created in 2008 to carry out the work that Halimah Ahmed was so committed to. Halimah was aged 19 when she passed away, just 6 weeks after she started her University Degree in International Relations & Global Politics. She had campaigned and fundraised for a variety of causes since she was a little girl and her ambition was to work in third world countries, helping the poor and needy. This is a quote from Halimah’s personal statement when she was applying for her place at Sixth Form College in 2005: ‘I aim to go to University to study Third World Development and International Relations. This will enable me to find a job that will give me the opportunity to travel to different countries and help improve the environment and minimise poverty. In this way, I will fulfil my ambition to improve people’s lives and make a difference in the world.’      Halimah Ahmed, 20th January 2005 Keeping Dreams Alive The Halimah Trust (charity no. 1123284) was set up by Halimah’s family and friends in 2008. Since then thousands have joined, climbed mountains and organised events to raise funds for the work of the Charity. Our first project was the building of the Halimah School of Excellence in Wazirabad, Pakistan; a secondary school for 434 orphan and needy girls which we’re proud to say was inaugurated in April 2011. The Halimah School of Excellence was built in partnership with the Muslim Hands Charity who had the right expertise and resources already established in Pakistan. The land for the school was kindly donated by a local farmer and the school is now up and running, benefitting girls from the local area as well as earthquake victims from Kashmir and other regions. Every penny that was donated to The Halimah Trust for The Halimah School of Excellence was spent on the bricks and mortar of the school as part of the Muslim Hands ‘It’s My Project (IMP)’ scheme. Our latest projects The Halimah Trust is now working with Oxfam to continue campaigning for the education of girls in Pakistan through a very special project to build flood proof schools in poverty stricken, disaster-hit areas. We are also working with Oxfam on a critical project in South Sudan, one of the poorest countries in the world, to a provide water and sanitation to improve the health of communities. These partnership projects will be delivered through Oxfam’s Projects Direct programme which guarantees that 100% of donation will be spent on the project. Also in South Sudan, where 1 in 10 children die before they reach the age of 5, The Halimah Trust is working with Unicef to increase maternal and child survival in South Sudan through a number of different activities. The work includes providing motorcycle ambulances to get expaectant mothers to hospital on time; maternal and neonatal training to health workers; therapeutic milk and Plumpy’nut to severely malnourished children; immunisation against polio and measles for children, and tetanus for mothers; providing anti-malarial bed nets and health education. That’s what is different about The Halimah Trust. We partner with already established organisations and charities that are doing important work in Third World countries and can guarantee that 100% of the money we raise will be spent directly on the projects we’re supporting. We have no paid staff and all administration is carried out by volunteers. Any costs such as travel, website and resources are paid for separately by individuals involved in the charity so that no money from donations are used for anything other than the projects we are delivering and supporting.     We aim to make a difference The Halimah Trust works to overcome poverty and suffering in the world’s poorest regions alongside our partner charities and organisations; focussing on projects that include:
