YTD Raised: n/aWe are a local, voluntary association which aims to make Nether Lochaber a better place to live, work and visit. Our membership is made up of people living in the area who want to get involved in improving their community. Nether Lochaber comprises small villages and crofting townships on the eastern side of Loch Linnhe on the west coast of Scotland, stretching from the Ballachulish Bridge over the mouth of Loch Leven to just south of Fort William. The association is a registered charity (SCIO) comprising a small board of volunteer trustees plus members who are mostly from the local area. We are working to improve the local facilities and services for the people who live here and for those who visit. We do this by: creating new facilities, and improving existing ones, to support the provision of additional services. organising or supporting community social events. taking care of our historic and natural surroundings.

(UK, 1158079) Starehe UK supports the Starehe Boys and Girls schools in Nairobi, Kenya. For almost 6 decades the schools have been empowering their students with an opportunity to escape poverty through access to a first class secondary education and a safe, secure home – free of charge. Not only does a Starehe education help students to create a bright future for themselves it also encourages them to make a valuable contribution to the development of their communities and Kenya at large. It is tough for all poor children growing up in Kenya. Basic primary education is free of charge, and whilst 75% of Kenya’s children now enroll in primary school, only 40% of secondary aged children will attend secondary school . Kenya is the ninth lowest country in the world in terms of the percentage of children in school . The Kenyan government only pays £150 per student towards their secondary education. The difference between the government contribution and the school fees has to be paid by students’ families, hence many poorer children are forced out of the system, especially those living in rural communities. It costs the Starehe schools £1,000 to feed, clothe, educate and care for a child for one year , £850 sponsorship is therefore required every year for every free placed offered to a poor child. Every penny received by Starehe UK for student sponsorship is sent to the schools.

Mates4Mates is a not-for-profit organisation committed to providing holistic welfare and treatment programs that give direct support to current and ex-serving Australian Defence Force (ADF) members who have suffered physical or psychological wounds, injuries and illnesses as a result of their service, either in Australia or overseas. Integral to supporting our Brave Mates is providing support to their family.
