(UK, 1157909) The Vulture Club was founded in 2012 and we became a registered charity in 2014 following successful funding from statutory commissioned services in the local area to support people affected by drug and alcohol abuse. We currently operate in the heart of Whitehaven town centre where we offer a 5-day week program of activities, delivered by our team of 2 members of staff, 1 paid facilitator,11 volunteers which includes a further 5 facilitators and our Trustees. 85% of staff, volunteers and Trustees have lived experience. Our team are from West Cumbria and through our own working experience and participation within the drug and alcohol recovery field in Cumbria, we felt and understood that there was a real need to provide contextual support to people who were trying to recover from their substance addiction in our community, and that’s when we formed the Vulture Club.

It gets 3,400 calls for help & provides over 21,300 nights of accommodation at its hostel annually – no fuss; also travel, food, clothing – nothing complicated, just the basics to restore dignity.
