(UK, 1113653) The UKFTSH raises funds to support the work of The Shepherd’s Hospice, Freetown Sierra Leone. In particular the charity funds the work of the Community Team, which works with people with HIV/AIDS, cancer, tuberculosis, malaria and other illnesses. Funding is used to pay the salaries of the community palliative care team, enable medical investigations and supply appropriate medicines. The Shepherd’s Hospice is the first medical institution in Sierra Leone to use oral morphine for pain control. The UKFTSH also support staff training and provide educational support. Since the foundation of UKFTSH trustees have visited the Hospice on a number of occasions to learn about and monitor the work of the hospice.

YTD Raised: $0.00TRM challenges valley students to experience the benefits of goal setting, character development, adult mentoring and improved physical health through a structured training program culminating in the running and completion of the Modesto Marathon. Program/projects: The goal of the Teens Run Modesto program is to help our youth gain the life skills, confidence and can-do attitude necessary to be fully productive citizens of our community through a structured mentoring program. Many of our students are at-risk, coming from broken homes and dealing with a multitude of negative circumstances, from gang violence, to obesity and poverty. Some are considering dropping out of high school and one in particular even considered taking his own life. Through the TRM program we aim to help students gain communication skills as well as the confidence and self-esteem to deal with these negative issues.
