YTD Raised: $0.00 Lorne Community Hospital is the only hospital on the Surf Coast and, as such, has great demands placed upon its services. It relies on fundraising activities to maintain the high level of service and now looks to the Annual Appeal, and the Murray to Moyne Cycle Event, to meet its fundraising target. The funds raised by the 2013 ‘Lorne Spinners’ team, riding on the weekend of the 6th and 7th April in the Murray to Moyne cycle event, will be used to support our Rural Health project which assists people living in rural communities, such as Lorne and surrounding towns, to improve their health and wellbeing. The current priority is to work with local families and young people to increase after school recreational opportunities. Past projects have included very worthy initiatives to improve social connectedness and mental health, increase health programs for school aged children, and improve emergency equipment for urgent care particularly in regard to bushfires. Health is defined as a complete state of physical, mental and social well being, not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. The Lorne Community Hospital is committed to the health promoting process of enabling people to feel empowered to take responsibility for their health through the implementation of programs that encourage the adoption of a healthy lifestyle.
