YMCA Central Herts is a local charity that has been serving communities across the centre of Hertfordshire since 1967. We began as a hostel for young workers but have progressively grown our services for to meet the needs of the local community, which now comprise: Hostel accommodation providing homes for 123 of the most vulnerable single people from across Central Hertfordshire, including the homeless, young people, those with drug, alcohol or mental health issues, asylum seekers and ex-offenders Good quality, affordable and accessible services for children, young people and families. These include nurseries, afterschool clubs, breakfast clubs and Sure Start Children’s Centres. A variety of opportunities for young people designed to inspire and develop them through activity programmes and safe places to be. Community development opportunities for people of all ages to develop through different training and community facilities, enabling them to make a positive impact in their local communities and their own lives. Our vision is for "A world where everyone is valued and achieves their potential". It is trying to raise money to build a new school on the outskirts of Nairobi for the slum children of Mathare.
It provides educational support to some of the poorest children in Nepal with a core programme of five schools in Kathmandu. Support includes exercise books, textbooks, school bags and teacher salaries. The UK and Nepal teams are very efficient with 95% of donations spent on the programme.
Hearts And Minds Challenge is a young dynamic, innovative and passionate organisation formed in 2010 which is bringing positive change into the lives of those affected by autism. We are putting together a range of services which includes awareness raising, education support, advocacy, counselling, transition planning and advice for families upon receiving diagnosis as well as our Facebook support group.
The Indochina Starfish Foundation is an International Charity which helps some of the poorest, most disadvantaged children in Cambodia. ISF believes that every child has the right to education, healthcare and sport. Our Education and Football Programmes deliver these rights to Cambodian children. Our Education Programme currently focuses on over 500 children from the Stung Meanchey and Chbar Ampov districts of Phnom Penh, a number we expect to gradually increase to 700 by 2016. Our Football Programme delivers coaching, leagues & tournaments to over 3,500 disadvantaged boys and girls in Phnom Penh, Kandal, Battambang, Prey Veng and Sihanoukville.
The Friends of Ket Wangi Orphanage are supporting the upbringing and education of 82 children left orphaned by the 2008 violence in Western Kenya and by AIDS.
