CERT (UK) Community Emergency Response Team UK formerly known as Eden Flood Volunteers was born the day the floods hit Cumbria so badly. Our Founder and CEO responded to the disaster by pulling together a volunteer group to help people affected by the floods in the Eden Area, then next the wider County and the surrounding Counties Dumfries and Galloway, Lancashire, Yorkshire and Tynedale affected by the floods, forging links with other organisations and charities such as Red Cross, Ca-ce (Citizens Advice), Turning Point, Mind, Churches Against Poverty to name but a few. From day one the team of volunteers worked tirelessly, gaining the support of local businesses and organisations. CERT UK recognised at the start that there was a longer term need for flood support across the flood affected areas, so CERT UK was set up as a registered charity and gained financial support from Cumbria Community Foundation of 105K and continues to canvass for goods that will help those who are uninsured after the floods. Now with very dedicated volunteers and a tiny co-hort of paid essential staff CERT(UK) has now evolved so that we support those affected by any Emergency, Crisis or Disaster which leaves them without furniture, goods, toilettries, cleaning materials and food. We continue to support more than 700+ clients including The Flood Affected, Veterans,Victims of Domestic Violence, Ex-Convicts and Vulnerable, Disabled and Elderly people discharged from Hospital. Unfortunately, CERT's funding is running out. As a relatively new organisation, we have limited to non-existent access to funds that get dispersed by government and charities. We are in desperate need to raise much needed and urgent funds. If CERT(UK) fail to raise these funds we won’t be able to support you, your families and friends when the need arises. The Community needs you NOW and CERT(UK) needs you so WE can serve your Community.
