Australian Marriage Equality is calling for donations to help us continue our successful work in progressing a reform that will benefit so many couples, families, and communities across Australia. 2013 has been a huge year for the fight for equality. This year will be even bigger. We anticipate the coalition may allow a conscience vote on marriage equality soon, so we need to convince 25 more MPs to support marriage equality. To continue to progress reform we need your support. To show your support for marriage equality please donate now! is a national organisation working for equal marriage rights for all Australians regardless of their gender or sexuality. Australian Marriage Equality has run many successful campaigns that have lead to marriage equality being endorsed by the Tasmanian government, the ACT Government, and the Federal Labor Party. We now strive to work towards amending the Marriage Act to end discrimination against same-sex couples, a goal that is supported by a majority of Australians.
is a not-for-profit organisation providing information and referral as well as practical and emotional support for families experiencing a circumstantial crisis. Every week, Australian families experience some kind of emergency, tragedy or crisis that causes immense upheaval, stress and devastation, often leaving the main caregiver physically or mentally incapable of providing even the most basic care for their family. Diagnosis of a terminal illness, severe depression that debilitates a family member, death of a baby, child or partner, premature or extremely sick baby or child, serious accident that leads to disability or the need for surgery go beyond affecting the functioning of a family and cause chaos and major disruption within the family unit. Unchecked, this can lead to long term health problems for all family members, neglect, malnutrition and more. Support for Mums provides the support and information needed in the first instance, preventing deterioration of the family and the health of family members, and ensuring families are back on their feet and accessing the longer term support they may need sooner rather than later.

Kidswheels is a small charity run entirely by volunteers in Liverpool. We take children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds on free holidays and excursions, and also provide community transport to other local charities, schools, youth groups and senior citizens' organisations. This is often provided free of charge, or for a small donation only, which is much less than hiring vehicles and drivers from other organisations. This year, Kidswheels is aiming to replace one or more of our minibuses, which are coming to the end of their service. Without new minibuses, Kidswheels won't be able to continue to provide the truly valuable service we do in the local community.

Just a stone's throw from Manly, Bear Cottage is a children's hospice that was established in 2001. Bear Cottage helps families cope with the impossible - to care for a child who has a life-limiting illness. To care for a child who is unlikely to see their 18th birthday, or their ninth birthday, or sometimes even their first birthday. For the special kids that stay with us, there is no happy ending, no miracle cure. This is heartbreaking to think about. But that's only part of the story. Even though the outlook for these kids is a sad one, Bear Cottage is actually one of the most uplifting and inspiring places you could ever visit. Here, children laugh and play. Life is celebrated, lived to its fullest and also fondly remembered. Bear Cottage is the only children's hospice in NSW, one of only two in Australia, and the only one in the world affiliated with a children's hospital. It is a very special place that's dedicated to caring for children with life-limiting conditions and their families. Planning began for Bear Cottage almost 20 years ago, when Dr John Yu and Dr Michael Stevens from The Children's Hospital at Westmead decided to enhance the hospital's palliative care program. Located on Sydney's Northern Beaches, in Manly, Bear Cottage is like a home away from home - as far removed from a hospital environment as possible. Here staff do not wear uniforms, no medical procedures are carried out in the bedrooms, the children's rooms are designed to like a normal bedroom, and we even have a family pet, Frankie, our adorable Labrador. That said, Bear Cottage is set up to provide excellence in paediatric medical care 24 hours a day, and our affiliation to The Children's Hospital at Westmead means we have access to some of the best medical resources in the world. The facility was established entirely through community support, at a cost of $10 million, and was officially opened on St Patrick's Day, 17 March 2001, Bear Cottage does not receive any recurrent government funding and so continues to rely on donated funds and community support to raise over $2.9 million required to operate each year. Bear Cottage provides support, respite and end of life care for children with life-limiting illnesses and their families. We care for children from across Australia, regardless of where they receive their primary care, although the majority of families that access the service are from NSW. The children who visit Bear Cottage will range from newborn infants to 18 years of age; however accommodation is also available for parents, as well as siblings, of the children staying. When these families are told that their child's life will be cut short, their everyday existence takes on a monumental change. As they embark on such a terrible journey, there are limited options available to help them get through each day, and answer the many questions that arise. Having Bear Cottage available to them for care and support enables these families to focus on the important things, such as spending quality time together and making every moment count. Most families staying at Bear Cottage will come for respite; with the average length of stay is around one week to ten days. Families are generally able to visit Bear Cottage around 4 times a year for general respite, however for end of life care this can be open ended.

The goal of Running for Shoes is to put shoes on village and impoverished children. It is our vision to enable as many of these children as possible to walk to school and live life in general with shoes on their feet. In 2013, we focussed on children in India and raised enough money to purchase shoes for 8,000 children. Our partners in India have told us stories of happiness as children receive their first ever pair of shoes and their amazement that people in Australia are running for them. It is not just these children who are astounded but their parents are brought to tears as their children receive these shoes. In 2014, we focussed on children in Ethiopia and in November 2015 a team from Australia will be travelling to our partner in Ethiopia to be a part of purchasing and distributing shoes to children there! This year, Running for Shoes will add children from one more region to our cause... Cambodia! Join us in running for shoes, supporting children in Cambodia! Check out our Facebook page for the most current information on how you can become a part of Running for Shoes!
