St. Nicholas Foundation, founded on the belief that Every Child Deserves an Education, runs a school in Tema New Town, Ghana. Our mission is to improve, through education, the lives of local children living in abject poverty, ensuring a better future for them and their families. The school provides pre-school, primary and junior education, but our aim is to see children through their secondary education too - a new annex is currently being built to achieve this. 100% of all donations go to the Foundation.
There are 189,000 Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Deafened and Deafblind adults, and at least 800 hearing impaired children living in Leicestershire. Research shows that 71% of over 70 year-olds have some sort of hearing loss, along with 41% of over 50s. We work towards an inclusive society by offering many services, including communication and interpreting.
Future First’s vision is that every school should be supported by a thriving, engaged alumni community. Alumni can offer invaluable support to young people as career and educational role models, mentors/e-mentors, work experience providers, governors, or even fundraisers or donors.
