(UK, 1006625) Herefordshire Growing Point is a social and horticultural therapy charity working with disabled and vulnerable people of all ages living in Herefordshire. Since 1989, we have been running regular gardening activities led by skilled tutors with experience in horticulture and caring for disabled people. Working with plants, seeing things grow, and getting out into the fresh air gives the chance of regular physical exercise, stimulation of the senses, and improves well-being. Joining in with other people and sharing a common interest can build sociability, and reduce loneliness for people living in isolation. In 2013, the charity received a Queen's Award for Voluntary Service for its exemplary contribution to improving the lives of people with complex needs.
