(UK, 1143935) Browse eventsWe are a charity providing wrap-around care for children aged 3 to 11. Located in the canteen attached to West Oxford C.P. School we aim to provide children with a safe, fun and caring environment. Situated to the west of the city centre, we are based in the grounds of West Oxford C.P. School and share many of its facilities. A key area we use is the school playground - currently a tired expanse of cracked tarmac, with few facilities. Although the children enjoy playing outside, the lack of equipment and shade can be an issue. As a key user of the site, we've joined with the Friends of West Oxford C P School to launch a playground appeal to renovate the playground. It's a particularly important community resource as it is the only open space in West Oxford not affected by flooding. The nearby school playing field and surrounding green spaces are frequently water logged and regularly flood. In one recent year flooding rendering the school field unusable for six months. Time outside is important to the users of the after school club, not least as the club is housed in a small room at the back of the school canteen.
