More House School provides high quality education and pastoral care for boys aged eight to eighteen who might be bright, but struggle in mainstream schools due to a Specific Learning Difficulty. We have particular expertise in dyslexia and other language-based problems. All our students are able to benefit from an environment and education that is tailor-made to suit their needs.
We give access to school to the poorest children in rural and urban areas, and encourage the children to go as far as possible in their studies. We operate in 7 countries: Burma, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines and Yunnan (China).
THET is the UK-based health charity that works in Britain’s health institutions to fight disease and improve basic health care in developing countries. In particular, our Health Links programme supports the exchange of medical & health skills, learning, research and training between institutions in the UK and under-resourced health systems overseas. THET has helped to foster Health Links involving over eighty institutions in more than twenty countries. In five African countries - Ethiopia, Ghana, Malawi, Somaliland and Uganda - THET has worked with Links partners to successfully scale-up a number of projects so that they have an impact on a nationally significant scale. Tumaini Health is building a health centre for the village of Rwika in Eastern Kenya. This rural community has a growing number of health needs varying from acute emergency cases to chronic diseases. These include respiratory infections, drug addictions and the need to cater for a rapidly increasing elderly population that suffer from chronic conditions such as arthritis and diabetes. Tumaini Health Centre will initially offer the following services: Same day walk-in consultation by a clinical officer (physician assistant) assisted by a nurse Efficient diagnostic blood and urine tests Mental health counselling services Long term management of chronic conditions Local and overseas volunteering opportunities In the future Tumaini Health Centre will be a 24-hour facility with the added provision of a chapel for spiritual care.
