We offer a year round programme of projects and events, at the theatre and in schools and communities, encouraging people of all ages and backgrounds to take part in making theatre and unleashing their creativity. Our extensive Creative Residencies programme supports local and national theatre-makers to develop their work at Northern Stage - from a spare room policy giving free rehearsal space for artists, to bespoke residencies supported by our creative and technical teams, and a national competition to find the most intriguing ideas for new theatre. We are committed to providing opportunities that enable local artists to stay and work in the North East and to play our part in promoting the region as a centre for creative development.
