(US, Beachwood Schools PTO - N/A) The Beachwood PTO is excited to bring the spirit of the Olympics to Beachwood Schools this February. The purpose of the Olympics is to generate school spirit, teamwork, and camaraderie throughout the school as well as introduce a new school fundraiser – to benefit the Beachwood Schools PTO. The PTO in turn supports Hilltop through teacher grants, program funds, staff appreciations and support of events like the 5th grade promotion. We have already received a grant this year for our Writers Forum and plan to submit at least one more request before the year is over.

The charity was established in 1964 by Mr & Mrs McDowell who sadly lost their teenage daughter to leukaemia. All of the funds raised by the organisation remain in Northern Ireland to promote research into the causes and cure of leukaemia, lymphoma and related conditions. The charity supports scientists from the haematology research laboratories in the Centre for Cancer Research and Cell Biology (CCRCB) at Queen's University Belfast and Belfast City Hospital. The Leukaemia & Lymphoma NI scientists are experts in their field and with their research aim to understand how the disease develops, better ways of treating all these diseases and ultimately improve the outcome and quality of life for patients of all ages who are affected by leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and other related conditions.
