(UK, 1132858) Browse eventsAbout St. Paul’s Withington St Paul's (Church of England) is a friendly, inclusive worshipping community where we can explore our faith, experience God's love and find a sense of belonging. Located in the centre of Withington in South Manchester, St. Paul’s draws members both from the parish and from further afield and includes people of all ages and from a range of backgrounds. We are active in the local community with a programme of events for people of all ages, including concerts, children’s activities, community dinners, and we host clubs, societies, and charitable organisations in our parish hall. Gisela and Anne’s Sabbatical Pilgrimage: In May, I will be setting out from the St Paul’s to Holy Island (Lindisfarne), along the Pennine Way and the St. Cuthbert’s Way. I’ll be walking with the Revd Anne Pilkington, our friend from Christ Church, West Didsbury. This is a beautiful route, but a tough one. Over the course of 25 days, we’ll climb over 12,000 metres (while Mount Everest is a mere 8,848 meters high). The route covers: 320 miles, 249 stiles, 204 bridges, 287 gates, plus avoiding assorted wildlife. The final stretch involves a barefoot pilgrimage across the tidal causeway off the coast of Northumberland to reach Holy Island. We’ve been training for this over the last few months, spending our weekends out in the cold, rain (and sometimes sun), racking up the miles, traversing bogs and honing our compass reading skills. We have decided to do this as a sponsored walk. I will be raising money for the refurbishment of our kitchen in the parish Hall, so we can get it ready for our new project with L’Arche. The project will involve people with and without learning disabilities working together to prepare and serve meals, a wonderful way to bring people together and build community. Money donated through this online link will be split equally between St Paul's and L'Arche Manchester. The Revd Gisela Raines
