YTD Raised: n/a

Christ Church is a lively, growing Christian community that serves individuals and groups, of all faiths and none, in the town of Ware and beyond. We are a busy church, very active in our community. Our activities include running a Christians Against Poverty Debt Centre, social support for single-parent families, events and activities for children and young people, parent and toddler groups and pastoral and social support for older people. We also provide meeting space and welcome to a local group of Syrian refugees and hope to be able to offer all these groups more space to meet on a regular basis. Our problem is, we are running out of space! We have to turn away many local community groups who are seeking space to deliver their services and our town lacks a large venue for weddings or exhibition space.

FIT'SCOOL (AU, 40127648649) Browse events

YTD Raised: $0.00

FIT’SCOOL is an after-school fitness program that gets kids moving and learning about good health, nutrition and exercise.   Children are organised into groups and given fun physical activities that keep them moving for the entire time. The program is completely flexible, designed to cater to all fitness levels, capabilities and body shapes.   Our program has been designed by physical education experts and road-tested on the toughest critics we could find - the kids!   Instructional components on nutrition and diet can be included in each session so kids can learn how physical activity and what they eat work together to drive their bodies and brains.   Organisers are given all the tools to run each session, with information and extensive support available from the FIT’SCOOL team. We will teach each instructor how to manage the sessions and how to manage the children, including tips on structure and discipline to ensure every child gets as much as possible from the program.   FIT’SCOOL is easy to roll out to schools everywhere without any need for expensive equipment or highly trained staff. Anyone can run and operate FIT’SCOOL – you just need a couple of adult volunteers – if you build it, the kids will come!   FIT’SCOOL teaches children in a fun, non-competitive environment that physical activity is fun!   FIT’SCOOL helps build cardio fitness, core strength, muscle control, fine and gross motor skills and body dexterity.     To have every school in Australia adopt the FIT’SCOOL program. To offer every child the opportunity to run like the clappers – no matter how fast that is! To give every primary school child an exercise strategy that they can apply now and see the results for themselves. To give every primary school child an understanding of exercise, and health and fitness that they can return to later in life when they need to create changes.   FIT’SCOOL is dedicated to ending childhood obesity by teaching school-aged children how to incorporate physical activity into their everyday lives. FIT’SCOOL educates children of the importance of good nutrition and making good food choices. Through modelled behaviour, we are committed to changing attitudes towards health and well-being, equipping our children with the tools so that they can be responsible for their own good health from childhood through to adulthood. FIT’SCOOL is our weapon in the fight against childhood obesity and its associated health disasters, including Diabetes 2, heart disease and shortened life expectancy.
