This unique penguin is found only along the eastern coastline of the South Island of New Zealand, on Stewart Island and the subantarctic islands. Although the yellow-eyed penguin population has increased in the Trust’s first 29 years the population is still a long way from being self-sustaining with less than 500 breeding pairs of yellow-eyed penguins left in NZ. Yellow-eyed Penguin Trust is a registered charity under the Charities Act 2005, registration number CC22822.
