Executive Shift (UK, 1154850) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

We aim to improve the diversity of individuals who are able to fulfil executive roles by advancing education of the public and employers about alternative and flexible working patterns. Right now we are planning two research projects looking at: 1. The demand from over 50s to work in more flexible ways. Try out our survey here https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/S3JWT9M 2. The attitudes of line managers to flexible working. For both of these projects we plan to carry out a number of focus groups to delve into attitudes, obstacles and actions for change.  If you'd like to run a focus group, please Email us (see left). If you'd like to support the extension of these projects to larger surveys then please make a donation.

Project Declan (AU, Project Declan - N/A) Browse events

YTD Raised: $0.00

Project Declan was originally set up to help with the immense cost of changing our house to accommodate our paraplegic son, help with medical costs for his cancer battle and to give a little back for the benefit of others facing similar battles and fund research to find those elusive cures. Our son was diagnosed with an incurable cancer (Spinal Glioblastoma Multiform High Grade Stage 4 Cancer) The cancer caused irreversible damage to nerves in his spine causing Declan to become a paraplegic and facing a battle with this incurable cancer. Declan fought bravely, endured life saving surgery as well as other surgery procedures during his cancer battle and did it with a smile. Several rounds of chemotherapy, two rounds of radiation and secondary chemo drugs to help fight the cancer and prolong his life as much as possible. Declan, like us and all families facing a cancer battle remained positive throughout his journey and even when the cancer returned he did not give up hope. Devastatingly the cancer appeared in the brain and finally Declan lost his 13 month cancer battle aged only 9 years old. Whilst Declan was alive we had already agreed to continue the "Mount Coot-tha Challenge" and raise much needed awareness and funds for childhood cancer. We now ride in honour of our son and take up the fight for all children facing cancer. Our aim is to raise the profile of childhood cancer through your support and to raise the survival rates as well to levels currently enjoyed by adult cancers. Childhood cancer treatments currently use hand me down treatments from adults therapies and we feel it is time we developed more treatment protocols for children and fund childhood cancer research to a far greater level. After all they are our future. Cancer is the leading cause of death in children in Australia. One child under eighteen will be diagnosed with cancer every nine hours. One child in Australia will die of cancer every two and a half days. Approximately 15,000 children are living with cancer today in Australia. Approximately 40% of children diagnosed with cancer will die from the disease. Funds raised from Project Declan will go to the following foundations as well as some other areas that desperately need funding from time to time. These areas will be on a discretionally based need and from advise and calls for help from the children's oncology teams. These are things like nasal gastric feeds and other cancer related treatments. Brain Child Foundation: www.brainchild.org.au Smiling for Smiddy: www.smiddy.org.au (Mater Foundation) Childhood Cancer Research Institute: We would like to take this opportunity to thank family, friends and complete strangers for all their support, well wishes and financial help throughout our journey over the past 18 months. Without your love and support we would not have been able to achieve or do some of the things we did with our son. Declans legacy will live on in us and you with the coming together to raise funds and awareness for others currently facing the cancer fight and through your continued support "we will find a cure"
