YTD Raised: €0.00

Build4Life/Cystic Fibrosis was founded in 2007 and to date has raised over €3,800,000.00. In 2011 we funded and opened the new Adult CF Outpatient Clinic including all of the medical equipment at a cost of €400,000.00. In 2015 we spent €2,300,000.00 on the Adult CF Isolated Inpatient bedrooms in Ward 5B in Cork University Hospital, this ward opened in October 2015. This donation was the the largest ever philanthropic donation in the history of Cork University Hospital. In 2016 we will fund the Children's Cystic Fibrosis outpatient clinic. We are currently raising funds to develop the Children's isolated inpatient bedrooms. People with CF need to treated in isolated ensuite accomodation while attending hospital to eliminate the risk of cross infection. Build4Life/Cystic Fibrosis was the first charity in Ireland to raise funds to develop hospital accomodation in any hospital in Ireland. We need to raise a further €300,000.00 to develop and complete all the CF facilities in CUH. Build4Life/Cystic Fibrosis also raises funds for medical equipment for both the adult and children's CF departments. In 2014 Build4Life funded vital medical equipment for the Children's CF Department which will allow children with CF to be treated in single rooms until the Build4Life funded isolated CF facilities are developed. In 2014 Build4Life secured 3 medical staff for the Children's CF department in CUH; A full time Cystic Fibrosis Nurse specialist, a half time physiotherapist and a half time phycologist. In 2014 Build4Life purchased iPads for children attending Cork University Hospital. Build4Life also provides funding for all the needs of both the adult and children's Cystic Fibrosis departments. Build4Life/Cystic Fibrosis is the only charity funding the development of these life saving Cystic Fibrosis facilities in Cork University Hospital. Cycle for Uganda (UK, 326305) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

PLEASE NOTE WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING DONATIONS FOR CYCLE FOR UGANDA 2011. Cycle for Uganda is a one week charity cycle tour in Uganda which raises money mainly for the Next Generation programme, run by Mara Foundation, that aims at school improvement for government funded secondary schools serving disadvantaged communities in Uganda, amongst a few other good causes. The route (all on good paved roads) passes through the beautiful hills of Western Uganda, a green and fertile land where ancient volcanoes enclose the Western arm of the Great Rift Valley. We’ll pass straight through Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you can expect to see elephant, buffalo, antelope, and if you’re really lucky, tree-climbing lions. We’ll pass the vast tea estates of Fort Portal and Bushenyi, as well as ancient crater lakes of up to 300m depth hidden behind the terraced hillsides and banana plantations, all on a backdrop of the vast Rwenzori volcanoes. The route takes in some tough climbs as well as a few glorious descents. The week culminates with an opportunity to track the endangered mountain gorilla in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. For those who have never visited Africa before, there is no better introduction – the scenery in Western Uganda is mind-blowing!
