E13 Learning Community Ltd works alongside 8 schools in the Plaistow and Upton Park areas of the London Borough of Newham primarily to provide out of school learning and leisure activities for children and young people and to grow community cohesion. Our mission is to make the E13 Learning Community area an excellent and inclusive living and learning environment for children, young people, and families. We work in one of the most economically disadvantaged and culturally diverse areas of England & Wales. Our track record to date includes holiday play schemes for 140 children to enable them to keep learning & having fun new experiences during the breaks from school. We're also running performance skills workshops leading to an Olympics-related celebration in 2012. To help build bridges across the cultural divides we organised a 'Faith and Neighbours' walk, visiting 5 different faiths' places of worship on a Saturday afternoon - themed around what it means to be a good neighbour; and a 'Kaleidoscope' event for schools and community to share interactive cultural displays and performances.Your donation will help us develop more activities along these lines. The website includes work carried out by schools as well as the charity.
