We are a registered charity dedicated to helping people with sight loss and their carers find the right level of support and maintain their quality of life. Isolation and loss of confidence often accompanies the trauma of losing sight. Through our activities, we aim to help individuals regain their confidence and feel less isolated so that they can take a more active part in the community. Through their involvement with the PAB, we believe that our members will become much better informed people, will meet many other people with sight loss, with whom they may share their problems and possibly become firm friends. Zinc (formerly Theatre Resource) is an amazing organisation. Straddling the arts, education, health and social care sectors, and using visual, media and performing arts, we provide a wide range of opportunities for disabled people and other socially-excluded groups. Our work allows participants to become involved in creativity, acquire new skills, gain qualifications and secure employment and supported employment within the arts and creative industries. Employing 46 people, Zinc is one of the larger disabled-led arts organisations in the UK and the only one to own and operate its own arts education centre. As we approach our 21st birthday, we have embarked on a major capital development which will see our centre in Essex expand to become a fully accessible residential education facility. This development will allow the organisation to expand the scope and range of its services and establish a world class centre of excellence for the development of arts education activities with and for disabled people, socially-excluded groups and the local community. 95% of the money required for this development has already been raised but there is still a little way to go to reach the £6.2million fundraising target for this project. Thank you for your support.
