New Horizons Club of Launceston has been providing vital sport, recreation and social opportunities to local people in Northern Tasmania with disability since 1986. We currently run 18 programs a week, 48 weeks a year for over 300 members. It’s about ensuring that everyone in our community has the chance to reap the fantastic benefits that an inclusive, active life brings. Through participating in sport and activities that many of us are lucky enough to simply take for granted, NHC members have the chance to set and achieve goals; follow their dreams. This year we sent four teams interstate to represent Tasmania in inclusive AFL, Futsal, Cricket and Indoor Cricket tournaments. Our members travelled all around Australia (and the world in fact) to compete in boccia, ten pin, swimming and more. And all the while, we remained busy at our Mowbray clubhouse, hosting and facilitating local sports, art and craft, musical and social activities for members of all abilities. It’s a wonderfully full and busy life here, that’s for sure!

Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith, typically run over eleven weeks. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Alpha is run all around the globe, and everyone's welcome. It runs in cafés, churches, universities, homes, bars – you name it. No two Alphas look the same, but generally they have three key things in common: food, a talk and good conversation. Alpha Australia helps facilitate these conversations through faith-based organisations right around Australia.
