Developing Artists (UK, 1121604) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Developing Artists is a registered charity committed to supporting the performing arts in conflict and post-conflict nations. Its projects connect people and institutions in some of the worlds poorest countries with an international network of theatre companies and practitioners. Developing Artists strengthens underprivileged communities by providing constructive outlets for their creative life and long-term opportunities for self-expression and professional development. Developing Artists works in two key ways. It creates collaborative productions in each nation and through these productions identifies talented individuals who would benefit from participation in the charitys Apprenticeship Programme. Over the last seven years Developing Artists has delivered over 20 projects in eight countries and brought together artists and performing arts organizations throughout the world. The charity fosters a self-sustaining approach to the arts through which individuals acquire the skills to earn an income from their work and begin to support their own projects over the long term. They are further encouraged to share what they have learned within their local communities thereby acting as catalysts for wider change.

YTD Raised: £0.00

The Kings Theatre works to be at the heart of our community in Portsmouth and enrich lives through the arts. Our aim is to provide the community with opportunities to experience and participate in high quality theatre and arts activities. We host Drama, Music, Dance and Comedy live shows. Our education work focuses on offering arts participation opportunities through tours, workshops and hands on experience. We firmly believe in training at work and working with young people. Passionate about offering young people opportunities to develop and gain experience in the performing arts, this work is cemented by regularly involving community groups, local schools and the Kings Youth Theatre. A recently opened Community Space will take our work in the community one step further by offering regular creative learning opportunities for everyone: weekly activities in arts, film, creative writing, dance, crafts, music and drama. We will focus on creating arts participation opportunities for individuals with limited resources. Designed by the great Edwardian theatre architect, Frank Matcham, and opened in 1907, the Kings is undergoing a continuing restoration programme that has already seen £2,000,000 spent on upgrading this historic grade 2 listed theatre. Fundraising Galas, bucket collections, grants and donations have all contributed to the efforts to raise the necessary funds for the work. Fancy fundraising for a thriving and exciting theatre? Then the Kings is waiting to hear from you!

Our mission is to save and improve lives of individuals with anorexia nervosa and their families by: Our message is that anorexia nervosa (AN) is a condition a person is genetically predisposed to have.  It  is triggered by weight loss which, in turn, can be initiated by a variety of factors. It is neither a lifestyle choice nor a condition that can be afflicted by families or society. Scientific research has proven that AN has genetic components. This understanding is essential for two main reasons: The AN process is well understood: while most people can afford to diet and lose weight throughout their lives, individuals predisposed with AN need to realize that weight loss may result in an out-of-control psychobiological spiral, leading to even further weight loss. The possible implications of this weight loss should be realised and acepted by sufferers, family and friends who should also celebrate the high achieving personality traits and sensitive nature often associated with those predisposed to AN.
