Grace House Cambodia Trust supports Grace House Community Centre (GHCC) in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Established in 2008 to improve the lives of families living in poverty in 3 rural villages situated between Siem Reap town and Tonle Sap lake. Little of the tourist dollar from the 5 million tourists who visit Cambodia reach these villages and 1/3 of the population are poor or near poor*GHCC aims to support local families to keep children in education and support children with a disability who live in Siem Reap province through our education programme. *(Royal Cambodian Government - Ministry of Interior) Grace House Community Centre (GHCC) believes strongly that children thrive and flourish within their family and supported by the village. Many children in Cambodia are placed in orphanages as parents believe the child will receive a better education and there is one less mouth to feed. UNICEF report three out of four Cambodian “orphans” have at least one living parent or close family member. Numerous reports have concluded that children fail to thrive in an institution and in Siem Reap the children in orphanages are often used as a tourist attraction. GHCC past students are now active members of their community and proud to support their families. We do this by providing :-Support to remain in state educationEnglish language programme enabling access to employment and further educationScholarships for university or vocational trainingFood aid, safe homes, sanitation & clean waterMicro loans for small businessChildren with a Disability education and respite programmeSocial enterprise for womenSocial work supportChild ProtectionOlder persons programme Charity No: 1155678 Find out more Website http://www.gracehousecambodia.net Facebook https://www.facebook.com/GraceHouseCambodia/?ref=bookmarks Twitter https://twitter.com/ghccCambodia YouTube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxsXzVfzPiqMn6b7OcVJ9Og
